What a crazy month it’s been! I got married – more on that soon, and travelled to New Caledonia, a place that caught up to my expectations, surpassed them and just kept running!
I’m back in Australia now and somehow it’s Christmas time already! For most of the world’s population it’s winter and I like to think that involves bundling up in a warm coat, sipping mulled wine, watching Love Actually on repeat and frolicking in the snow. Please don’t tell me otherwise, this is what I want to believe.
Not so down here in the sunny, southern hemisphere; I’ve just spent Christmas Eve on the beach, in a bikini and drinking chilled champagne because it’s frankly rather hot! Every year, our Christmas is divided between the two families. A day or two before Christmas we head to Phillip Island to celebrate with my partner’s family before driving back late on Christmas Eve to spend the next day with mine.
Phillip Island is a couple of hours’ drive from Melbourne, making it an easy beachside destination if you’re looking to escape the city for a while. There are world-class surf beaches, incredible hikes, the best of which would have to be Cape Woolamai, and on top of that, thousands of penguins call this island their home. What’s not to like?
I’m taking the time to embrace and really appreciate this beautiful, sunny weather as next year I imagine my Christmas will be a tad more white…
ANNOUNCEMENT TIME: we’re moving to Europe next year! Although I have a fair idea where we’ll be going, I’m keeping those cards close to my chest until our visas have been approved and things are set in stone.
I’ll keep you posted, Happy Holidays everyone!
